The 3 staple winter pieces you need

Even though it never seems to get warm in England, the winter time is particularly cold. skirts are one of favourite items of clothing, but i refuse to wear skirts, even with tights, if it below 4 degrees (celsius). The weather forecast recently: highs of 2 degrees, lows of -3 . So cold.

Undoubtably, your style will have to adjust your style to suit the weather, but that doesn't mean looking like a layered sausage throughout what feels like 6 months...

1. THE SHOW-STOPPER COAT

I'm a sucker for a good coat, but then again, who isn't? Coats are the first thing that people notice about an outfit, so it needs to be amazing. Winter is one of the best times to go coat shopping, as you can grab absolute steals in the boxing day sales. And i don't know about you, but the topshop sale, especially their coats, always excite me. I have fallen in love with one particular coat this year, and i finally got my hands on it.

This coat is an absolute beauty. With a classy contrasting pattern and a pop of yellow at the back, theres no excuse not to be in love with it.

A biker jacket is another good choice, see this option from Bershka below

With a faux-shearling lining, it is bound to keep you warm, but is supporting the animals at the same time. yay!

2. THE BLACK BOOTS

Much like the LBD, everyone needs a pair of little black boots. Personally, I prefer boots with a heel, as I'm only 5'5, and i like the extra height they give. Paired with a plain white tee and blue skinny jeans, some black heeled sock boots takes your outfit from basic to chic. Pair it with a red lip and your good to go!

3. THE TROUSERS

For me, trousers are my go-to in winter. I've never been much of a jean fan, because trousers are just so much more comfortable. Pull and Bear stock some of the best, comfiest pull on trousers, so definitely go check those out, but i also love a button peg trouser.

These ones from UO are amazing. Checks are really in at the moment, and the cool tones will go with anything, from lilac t-shirts to cropped black jumpers. Peg trousers are a timeless piece that flatter every figure
