How to: Wear colour on the eyes

Colour. It's largely avoided, especially as eyeshadow. You have the classic warm tones, but what about the blues? the pinks and purples? I have come up with 2 looks to help make wearing colourful eyeshadow easier, and just fun!

Look 1: Blue

This look is perfect for a dinner or night out, its smokey yet wearable, and the blue and red compliment each other perfectly.

After priming, from the ABH palette, take 'golden ochre' - a light golden brown matte - as a transition shade and blend it through the crease, taking it quite high up. Next taking a mix of 'raw sienna' - a warm mid tone - and 'burnt orange' - a warm orange - and tracing over the top of 'golden ochre' to deepen the crease. To get the red tone that really compliments the blue, take 'red ochre' - a deep red - and add it to the outer corner and lower crease. Take a clean blending brush just to buff out the edges and make sure its smooth. Then on a flat brush take 'Yejide' - a royal navy blue - from the Juvia's place palette and smoke out the lash line until the red and blue meet. I didn't use concealer because i didn't want harsh lines, however if you prefer that i also imagine the pigment will be better. Blend 'red ochre' all along the lower lash line and finally, take 'Yemoja' - a foiled light blue - on the inner corner. Top with 2 coats of mascara and you're good to go!

Look 2: Purple

Admittedly, this look is more bold, but paired with an all black outfit and all the focus on the makeup, it looks amazing. It would also be very good as dress up makeup for a mermaid :)

Always prime your eyes, but after that, from the ABH palette, take 'buon fresco' - a cool lilac - as a transition shade and blend throughout the crease, building up the colour more in the outer crease. I then took shade '9' from Nyx warm neutrals palette - a dark purple - and blend lightly throughout the crease again. Take a tiny bit of 'venetian red' from ABH and trace the purple to make the colour a bit warmer. From the Juvia's place palette, take 'Ife' - a blue rich purple - and pack it onto the outer corner and blend into centre of the lid. On the centre of the lid, pack on 'Faso' - a foiled lavender - and on the inner corner of the lid take 'Osun' - a pink shimmer - and slightly been up to meet the foiled purple. On the lower lash line, blend 'buon fresco' all along and 'Ife' in the outer corner. Add 2 coats of mascara and boom! a princess has risen.
